Understanding counselling

Along the first class we were discussing what we understood  as counseling. At first, we worked individually trying to find a definition. The next step was to compare our definition with our partner in order to put in common ours ideas. Then, by working in groups of four we had to develop a common definition that we later exposed to the class, finding the important key words. The aim of this activity was to create a global definition within the class about what a counselor is and what the meaning of the subject.

My individual definition at first was: “it is a person who offers guidance at school”. The group definition was: “A set of tools that help us to identify and deal with educational and learning problems whose aim is to guide a class which is composed of different kind of children."

Finally, some of the key words that we choose were: counselling, identify problems, solve, context, tools, guidance, diversity, tutorizing  and educational objetives.

I add a video that describes what a counsellor is, we saw it in class and it is very interesting :)
