In order to learn how to run out a teacher and parents meeting we watched a video of an interview
between a teacher and a mother. From this video, I will point out several characteristics that I’ve considered important.
First at
all, they started with a good welcome as to
create a comfortable and positive environment. Then, you could observe the good
communication that were established along the meeting, which involves respect the turns and listen
each other. Besides, the teacher exposed
several ideas about the child development supported by arguments based on tests and material. Also, she gave some suggestions about how to deal with the child
problems. Finally, they got to an agreement in order to meet again.
In general terms, the interview seems
organized, positive and completed.
After the
interview we heard some criticism from a counselor about how the interview was
carried out. She standed out the idea of the previous organization (schedule, timing and
material) of the meeting .The place of the interview must be comfortable and
confidential. She recommended not to use a technical language; to set mutual
goals and to encourage parents to take some notes if they
consider necessary. Moreover, she
concluded saying that it is important to make a reflexion after the meeting in
order to self-evaluate yourself and the interview.
